Glasflügel Upgrades

After receiving several enquiries about the possible installation of a canopy strobes for the Libelle, we now have a solution. Having the strobe mounted on the tail makes it visible from many directions. It includes a great feature where the light flashes more the when the Flarm detects a closer aircraft. It is customisable via Bluetooth.

Glasflügel addressed the issue of safety as early as 1972 with the approval of a strobes on the vertical fin (see TN 201-7).

We can now use this Technical Note to offer a modern ACL Kit with a connection to the Flarm.

The kit includes an ACL strobe, a connection box for the Flarm, a fiberglass molded part, and accessories for the connection.

These new winglets use the latest technology and included extensive research and testing, and as always, we are proud to offer the high Streifeneder quality.
They are not only eye catching, but also improve the sailplane’s flight characteristics in the following ways:

• • The minimum speed is lower
  • The directional control is better
  • The stall behaviour in straight flight and in a banked turn is more docile
  • The aileron response is improved even during the take-off and landing
  • Improved aerodynamics and performance

The winglets are constructed from carbon fibre reinforced plastic and only slightly heavier than the original wing tips, have a robust connection to the wing. They are rigged in seconds and secured in place by a spring loaded pin. There are no loose parts. The original wing tips may still be used.

Kestrel Winglet Kit Includes:

• • TN201-42, TN205-28 or TN206-28 and additional flight manual page
  • 1 pair of winglets (unfinished)
  • 1 pair of winglet connecting ribs (CFRP)
  • 1 pair of wing tip connecting ribs (GFRP)

The winglets are constructed from carbon fibre reinforced plastic and only slightly heavier than the original wing tips, have a robust connection to the wing. They are rigged in seconds and secured in place by a spring loaded pin. There are no loose parts. There is an option to modify the original tip for use, but we have found that once winglets are installed, they never come off. For this reason, the standard kit assumes the original tips will not be used.

Excludes costs for modification and installation. & As the ailerons on the Mosquito may need to be fitted with additional mass compensation to ensure flutter-free operation, we have decided to have the installation carried out only by us and companies authorised by us. After many requests, we are proud to share the redesigned backrest for the Libelle with an integrated headrest.  Either the Dragonfly or upholstery to match other upholstery is available, please specify your choice when ordering.
The integrated backrest with headrest can be folded forward during rigging, saving time and less handling. The headrest is narrow so the view to the rear is clearer and does not affect the position of your shoulders. It is also significantly stiffer, which is very comfortable for your back when flying. The “Sky Knapsack” can still be used.
Installation only takes a short time and does not require professional installation. Apart from tools, everything is included in the installation kit with instructions.
